Tyler Dean McDowell was born just outside Nashville in Hendersonville, Tennessee, immersed in a world of music. From a young age, he was rocked to sleep by the rhythm of a tour bus and was rumored to have sung his first words. At age 11, he signed a recording contract as “Tyler Dean” with Curb Records, home to renowned artists like Hank Williams Jr., Tim McGraw, LeAnn Rimes, and Ronnie McDowell. After 15 years, Tyler was let go, finally able to pursue his long-held artistic aspirations and embrace his family legacy as a “McDowell.”
Over the next few years, Tyler devoted himself to creating a series of short films featuring his original character "Skipper Dan," a Jungle Cruise™ skipper named in honor of his cousin. During this time, Tyler worked closely with a new producer to refine a distinctive sound he describes as "Aerosmith with a banjo." He attributes his love for Aerosmith to the "Rock 'n' Roller Coaster" attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios®, suggesting that it may have had just as big of an influence on his passion for music as his upbringing in the business. A reference to the ride can be heard at the end of his music video, "Come to Nashville."
Since 2021, all of Tyler’s self-produced music videos, such as “Older Women” — an homage to his father — have collectively garnered nearly 200K views on various social media platforms, as well as a mention on RollingStone.com. When he’s not working towards a Personal Trainer Certification or touring with his family, Tyler dedicates his time to crafting screenplays and building Tyler McDowell Productions™. Inspired by his heroes Walt Disney, and Ronnie McDowell, Tyler is committed to sharing his dreams with the world, guided by his motto: Keep moving forward.
